Turmeric Milk, aka Golden Milk, is a comforting warm drink made with milk, turmeric, ghee and warm spices. It is also known as Haldiwala Doodh, Masala Haldi doodh, or Turmeric Latte. Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin that is anti-inflammatory and shields your body from common flu and cold. The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric make it a perfect warm drink to have during winters or when you are under the weather. This drink is indeed a boon for your health, and it not only keeps the body warm during winters but also offers plenty of health benefits.
The combination of turmeric and milk, ghee, cinnamon, and black pepper powder boosts overall immunity. A cup of turmeric milk helps achieve good health, better sleep, boost immunity and aid better recovery. It also fastens the recovery rate and heals any internal injury or swelling.
There are many ways to make turmeric milk. The basic recipe combines animal or plant milk with turmeric, black pepper, ginger, fat and some sweetener (though it’s optional). Some fat and black pepper are required to add to turmeric milk; fat or oil and black pepper help in absorbing the turmeric well in our body. Some recipes also include nutmeg, star anise or other spices and sweeteners.
You can prepare turmeric milk with fresh turmeric or turmeric powder. Today I am sharing the recipe of turmeric milk both ways.
